Are there polymict or brecciated carbonaceous chondrites?
I purchased a meteorite from a lot of NWA 4502 stones, the dealer said that he could not verify that it was 100% so he sold it was unclassified. Its a beautiful stone, no fusion crust but does retain flow patterns. Here is the thing.. i sent it off to get cut and amazingly it was not NWA 4502 but something else. It looks like a polymict carbonaceous, which i have never seen. It attracts to a magnet and tiny nickel splatters can be seen under the microscope. it has CAI inclusions too. If anybody can offer some opinions that would be greatly appreciated. I can provide pictures
Yes, there are polymict brecciated carbonaceous chondrites.
Bencubbin, Cumberland Falls and Plainview are the first large ones that come to mind.
There is a chance your sample falls under the main class CB.
I suggest you contact your local university's Astronomy department. If they do not offer identification/classification service, they should be able to direct you to nearest institution that does.
